Into the nursery for some candy...

Shhh... baby is sleeping as we tip toe into the Sweet November nursery. Watching over the little bundle of joy are the Forest Nursery Pals. The stuffed squirrel sits high on the shelf with a twinkle in his eye. The stuffed bunny is smiling down at her new little friend. And the stuffed teddy bear is cozy in the crib wrapped in baby's arms. These warm and fuzzy pals know that they have years ahead of them playing and comforting sweet baby as he grows up and they couldn't ask for anything more.

As we gently close the nursery door behind us there just so happens to be a bit of candy for one lucky crafter. Take a look...
The Forest Nursery Pals candy kit includes; one Sweet November Forest Nursery Pals rubber stamp set, ten 6x6 sheets of Doodlebug paper, Prima flowers and Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, diaper pin die cuts, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card.

All you have to do for a chance to win the candy is leave a comment on this post. If you link to the candy on your own blog that is great and much appreciated but not a requirement... I want everyone to be able to play along. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone. I will ship the candy anywhere in the world so everyone is encouraged to play! :)
The candy will stay open through Friday, January 4th and I will announce the winners on Saturday, January 5th.

Be sure to check out the Sweet November Gals' blogs! Nancy and Marion have made some cutie patootie cards today! :)

Instead of using random generator I will be printing out names and tossing them in a hat SO if you leave comments for the SN gals on their blogs, you will get an extra name in the hat for each one that you do... this will up your chances of winning the candy... fun, fun, fun!

Thanks so much for checking out this first day of the Sweet November January release. I hope that you have enjoyed spending time in the SN nursery. ;)

Say cheese!

Olo!

Well, it was a no go on the movie yesterday. By 9am it was snowing and it didn't let up until the evening. I'm still determined to travel to Middle Earth so Jac and I will try to make the trip today, weather permitting.

As for today's card, I was recently introduced to a new digital stamp shop called Alicia's Crafty Corner. As soon as I saw those big, beautiful eyes I knew that I wanted to use Photographer Alicia blown up and cropped in a 'big head' style. Printing her out this size also made it super fun to color her hair as well.
And if this sweet face isn't enough incentive to check out these new digis then wait 'til you see the challenge that Alicia has going on right now. I'm entering this card into the open challenge which runs until January 7th and up for grabs is a Silhouette Portrait electronic cutting tool... talk about a WOW prize!

Alrighty, wish me luck that the snow stays away and I can make the trip to the movie safe and sound. I'm sure it will be worth the trouble but I'll admit there is a part of me that really wishes these movies came out earlier in the year when the weather is not an issue. ;)

My heart smiles

Hidee ho!

I think that I was more tired than anything else yesterday so a bit of a sleep in did me good. No signs of that nasty cold taking me down any time soon. So far there aren't any signs of new snow falling today so I'm thinkin' I'll take advantage of my first Saturday off in months to finally go see The Hobbit.

As for my card, I'm not sure if I've inked up this Sweetheart Gorjuss Girl before or not but she was looking pretty cute so here she is. At first I didn't have much of a direction for the rest of the card but when I pulled out the 5th & Frolic paper pad and decided on this pink sheet with the cross stitch hearts everything else started to fall into place. The cool embroidery hoop stamps are new and I couldn't wait to give them a go. I have some pretty fond memories of my mom cross stitching all the time when I was little  so whenever I see Aida cloth and needlework I think of her and my heart does smile. :)

Alrighty time for me to go get my hobbit on, LOL!

Hey, hey, hey!

Hey there!

I'm kind of tired this morning and there's not much going on that I can think to share. The morning fuzziness is refusing to clear from my head and I'm just hoping that I'm not about to catch the cold that my family has been battling since just after Christmas. If I do catch it, I'm blaming Jacque because that is what little sisters are there for. LOL

This card came about simply because I wanted to play with a new stamp. I actually got Flirty Mae last week and she's been sitting on my desk batting those eyes at me until I couldn't resist her any longer. She was all... "Hey there, hello, helloooo... umm don'tcha think I'd look fab with a bit of color?" And I was like, "Yea, yea ya would." ;)
So I went and grabbed a paper pad that has also been waiting for me to get past Christmas cards and I got my girly pink fix taken care of. Mae seems to approve of the color choice as well as she is rockin' that lime green jacket.

Ok, I might just go lie back down for a while... I think I'm coming off as kind of loopy. LOL
Enjoy your Friday everybody. :)

Beautiful things...

Hello again!

I had a busy day at work yesterday and once I got home I got sucked in to watching more Downton Abbey... love it! Luckily for me I already had this card made up for last week's review preview just waiting to be shared here on the ol' blog.

I'm so excited that the Li'l Lolitas have found a new home at All That Scraps and it has been fun seeing the past digis finally become rubber stamps. Even more exciting is that soon we will be getting brand spankin' new, never before seen Lolitas and Lads!
Anywho, I made this card especially for my pal Terry because she made a paper gown for winter CHA last year that was published in Somerset Magazine (you go girl!) and it looked a lot like Willow's flamenco gown. So I colored Willow up to look like she was wearing Terry's dress and even altered her a bit by coloring over the rose in her hair and adding some cherries instead to represent the hat of fruit that Terry's dress had with it. I hope that she likes the card when she gets it. :)

Okey dokey, time for me to scoot my boot and get ready for another day. Take care, stay warm and I'll see ya all manana!

Bugs & Kisses

Hello, hello!

I hope that everyone celebrating Christmas had a wonderful time yesterday. I enjoyed time spent with the family... it was mellow and relaxing and pretty darn great. As far as gifts go, I got some new TV series on DVD that I'm excited to dive into... Downton Abbey and Mad Men. I'm already LOVING Downton Abbey, we flew through season 1 and have just started season 2. Oh, and I finally made that Christmas Crack that I've been mentioning and I have to say that it was a huge hit! If you are looking for a sweet munchie to make for New Year's I give this recipe two thumbs way up. :)

So today's card is for the Sweet November December release review preview over at ATS. I chose to use one of the Love Bugs from the Love Bug Fun set and did some altering by simply cutting him off the candy heart that he sits on. This was an easy way to change up the look of the stamp and play with a different design for him. After all those Christmas cards these past couple months I couldn't resist pulling out some pretty spring looking papers to use with this li'l love bug... what a fun change of pace that was. It may not be traditional Valentine's colors but I think it works.
Now be sure to skip on over to the ATS blog to see what my fellow teamies have made with the rest of the new December SN stamps

Good Cheer

Good morning!

The count down to Christmas is on and I've got some goodie baking to do today with the help of my sister. There will be cut out cookies, popcorn balls and I still want to try my hand at that Christmas Crack. It should make for a pretty busy day.

My card today was actually driven by the paper before the stamp, which is not my norm. I have really wanted to use that great subway art type print from October Afternoon but it proved difficult to pair up with anything because I would always lose too much of the overall look. I needed an image that I could easily cut out but nothing too big... say hello to You Shine a la mode. At first I didn't think she would work because that strand of lights would be a pain to cut but then I stamped her directly on the pattern paper first, then onto the Copic X-Press and colored her up there. Once I had that done I could just cut her and the bulbs out then glue them onto the initial impression. It's prefect... she's thin enough that you can still read most of those words in the background but bright enough to steal the spotlight.

Ok, that's it for me today. Later gators!

cardstock- Bazzill and Copic X-Press It

Greetings of the season

Wow!

I'm so glad that the world didn't end yesterday... it would have put a total cramp in my holiday plans, LOL! Though it did snow all day and it is expected to keep snowing all weekend so in a way I feel like I'm dealing with my very own winter Armageddon... is that too melodramatic? ;)

As I was making this card yesterday, and cleaning up my desk a bit as I'm trying to stay more on top of that, it dawned on me that I only have two more Christmas cards to make before the season ends this year... crazy! Two cards and it will be time for me to put away my Christmas embellies, papers and stamps until next year rolls around, I can hardly believe it. Now to figure out which two stamps will have a shot at getting on cards this year... the pressure!
This Lili of the Valley Christmas Robins stamp is actually another one that has been sitting on my desk for a couple of years waiting. It finally became the perfect time to color it up because I wanted to make a special card for my aunt who loves birds. Now I just have to brave the roads to give it to her along with her Christmas present. :)

I hope that everyone is having a great last weekend before the big celebration. I'll be working today and it should be busy, busy, busy which helps the day speed along.

All roads lead home

Olo!

Well, we had a short break from any new snowfall yesterday but the forecast today is calling for more. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will hold off indefinitely... there is plenty already on the ground to make for a white Christmas if you ask me. ;)

Today, I'm playing along with the Double Take Tuesday challenge over on the TGF blog and this week we need to use the color combo of red, green and teal. I had just the paper in mind because I have been dieing to use this fabulous retro type winter scene from Crate's Sleigh Ride collection ever since I got it and the colors are perfect. The teal and green were covered right away so all I had to do was add in a pop of red to make it all work. Then I used the last of the three Miss Anya Scarves girlies that I had stamped up to call this scene home. I'm so proud of myself for getting all three Anyas from the set onto cards before Christmas.

Alrighty, well if the world doesn't end today I'll chat at'cha again tomorrow. ;)

Holiday joy

Howdy folks!

Talk about a day... I ended up having to stay two hours late at work and then drive home in the snow storm that had been going steady all day. Luckily I had the 4 wheel drive to get me up all the hills since the snow plows must have been busy elsewhere. But I was totally beat once I finally made it home.

That doesn't mean that I didn't make time for a quick card to unwind though. I've had this Christmas Lights Fairy printed out and waiting so I gathered some paper scraps together and colored her up to match. And because she is a little fairy I'm going to enter this card into this week's open challenge over at Flutter By. I kept things clean and simple and the only embellishments on it aren't even traditional paper crafting supplies... I had a miniature plastic light strand and cut it apart to add a couple of bulbs to the bow. I had to wrap it up after that though because my eyes were starting to droop. :)

Arighty friends, take care and I'll see ya in 24.

With all my love

Hey there!

I'm taking a break from the Christmas cards today to join in the review preview over at ATS. So I've shifted gears to Valentine's Day with Sweets by Mashi's Muffins. Something about this saucy little gal kind of reminded me of Betty Boop thus the black hair. But since there was so much red going on in the papers behind her I ditched the traditional red dress for a pretty purple instead. Speaking of those papers behind her, they are actually the cover sheet that came with the paper collection so all I had to do was cut it into three pieces and stack them and voila! Considering I can't bring myself to throw those packaging sheets away, I always enjoy using one up completely. Oh! And that Valentine that I tucked into Sweets' hand along with her box of chocolates was also cut out from the cover sheet... love that! :)

Okey dokey, there are loads of fab review preview cards to inspire over on the ATS blog today so be sure to check that out. And all of the new December stamps are available in the ATS store

Peace on Earth

Hello, hello!

We didn't get any new snow yesterday thank goodness, though they are forecasting more to fall later tonight. Ugh, it may be pretty to look at but snow certainly makes going out and doing anything a total hassle. Like going to a movie... I was really hoping to see The Hobbit this weekend but considering I'd have to drive 45 minutes in good weather to get to the theater I'm not really motivated to make the drive now with all the snow. Moan and whine, LOL! I'll survive. ;)

I made my card today for the December SOG sketch challenge. Pretty miss Angel Gwen was already stamped and waiting on my desk so it was her turn to get colored up. I loved the muted tones of this Lost & Found Christmas paper and I wanted to give Gwen the same rich and elegant tones. The touches of gold, cream and deep red do the trick if you ask me. :)
I stayed very faithful to the original sketch because I liked how the layers of banners allowed for a bunch of different patterns to be added without really crowding the overall design. It doesn't show up great in the photo but the sentiment is stamped on a pretty, shimmery gold paper that helps tie all those prints together. And because I felt there was a lot going on in the papers I kept the embellishing to a minimum... just a single fancy brad was all it needed.

Alrighty, I'm gonna scoot and see what kind of trouble I can get myself into today.
Have a good one!

Merry, merry...

Hello again!

Well, I didn't get around to making the Christmas Crack yesterday but I did bake some yummy beer bread that is quite delish with strawberry freezer jam. There is just something about warm bread baking while it's cold and snowing that feels really comforting. Guess I'll have to try my hand at the snack mix this coming weekend. :)

No surprise that I've got another Christmas card to share today. I finally inked up this wonderful Nellie Snellen stamp called Hokey Pokey Dawn. I love these images but the intricacy can sometimes steer me away from them when I'm running short on coloring time. Luckily, I had plenty of time to finally enjoy getting this sweetie on a card. The papers I found to go with Dawn are just a random mix from my scrap bag that I think give this a kind of outdoorsy feel. Love using up more scraps... that's always a bonus.

Ok, seeing as I'm gonna have to dig out the car if I'm going to get anywhere today I should wrap this one up. TTYL!

Angel baby

Mornin'!

It's official, we got snow, snow and more snow yesterday... it's a veritable winter wonderland out there. Driving home last night was quite an adventure so I'm happy that I've got no where in particular to be today. It might even be the perfect day to get in the kitchen and do some Christmas treat making.  I found a recipe on Pinterest for a mix called Christmas Crack that I've been anxious to try so that is on the top of my to-do list.

Ok, so I don't usually delve into world events here on the ol' blog because I try to keep it pretty crafty/stamping centric around here. But it is hard to separate the two today because the entire time that I was making this card yesterday I couldn't help but think of the recent tragedy in Newtown, Conn. My heart breaks for all of those who have lost their loved ones so senselessly. I found myself drawn to this Pure Innocence Angel and as I colored her those sweet babies in the news were constantly in my thoughts. I can't help but tear up even now as I type this... I just can't even imagine. So even though this isn't really any different than any of the other cards I've made this season, for me, it has a bit of solemness to it and a hope for peace. Peace for those who lost their lives and peace for their families too. Sorry to bring down the tone of things today but I was compelled to share so I wasn't going to fight it.

Big hugs and love to everyone, the world can always use more of both. ♥

All I want

Welcome to the weekend fellow stampers!

The girl's day out shopping trip was a lot of fun and quite successful. So much so that we didn't get home until quite late and I didn't have time to make a card for yesterday. But I hope that I've made up for that with not only a new card but a couple of coloring videos to go along with it. :)

Like I mentioned the other day, I've been experimenting with a different shading technique on faces recently. It's funny because it's been a while since I've experienced one of those "Aha" moments in my coloring that has brought with it a shift in my style but this is one of them. That's why I love this hobby though, it definitely has the potential for constant growth and change which is exciting to me. And now I want to share how I go about it with all of you. It's nothing huge, just a subtle addition of shading across the middle of the face to allude to some facial definition on all of those nose-less characters that we all love to color up.
I used Holiday Anya 2 for my example because she hasn't seen ink before this but I couldn't resist some altering as well. I made an easy change to her dress by snipping away the ribbon tails and I also replaced her long ponytail with a sassy little side bun that I borrowed from Princess Anya 3. You can see the entire process on the videos here and here... or you can catch them over on the Color Me Copic blog.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy! Now it's time for me to get myself ready for work. Have a good one!

Happy Holidays

Olo!

We got a little bit of snow yesterday and they are forecasting more tonight so I'm using the weather break to do some shopping in town before possibly getting snowed in. It's going to be a total girl's day with my mom and sisters so it should be fun. :)

Quickly, before I head out, I've got a card to share using the Winter Wryn digi stamp from Tiddly Inks. Something about Wryn in her stylin' Santa hat was just super sweet. So when I was flipping through the Make It Merry paper pad and found these super sweet candy canes I had to pair the two together. Plus, the pink was a nice change up to the holiday cards that I've been making. I don't know how noticeable it's been but the last few weeks I've been experimenting a bit and changing up my approach with coloring faces on images that don't have noses. It's a subtle shadow between the eyes and I'm hoping to possibly make a video for it tomorrow. Wish me luck... and time, LOL! ;)

Ok, time to shower and get ready for the big shopping day.

Let your heart be light

Hello, hello!

Thanks guys, I'm feeling much better already. My energy is back and I'm glad I only lost a day. By yesterday evening I was happy to do a bit of stamping and this card was the result of that time well spent. :)

I'm playing in another TGF challenge, this one is the Farm Fresh Friday Christmas or Winter themed cards. Since the theme was pretty wide open I had a hard time settling on a stamp. In the end I couldn't resist Fuzzy Wuzzy Oliver's fantastic hat though I did swap WS Edward's sweet face in there. I don't use the chisel ends of my Copics much but I did put it to work creating that plaid pattern on his hat and I'm pretty happy with how that turned out.
The papers are a bit random but I think the little bit of grey adds a different touch to the usual red and green combo. And the chipboard banners are a cute way of showing what this Christmas cutie may be asking Santa for this year. ;)

Ok folks, it's back to work I go. Don't forget to do something special at 12:12pm today... 12:12, December (12), 12th, 2012... pretty cool huh?!

Merry & Bright

Sorry guys... I started feeling crummy yesterday and was knocked out of commission. Once I got home all I wanted to do was curl up on the couch and watch The Voice... go team Blake! ;)
Needless to say, no creativity was happening. So I'm sharing another simple Christmas card that uses probably my most favorite Christmas papers released this year, Handmade Holiday by Simple Stories.

Here's hoping that today is a bit more productive.

A simple Christmas

Good morning!

So I am proud to report that I was pretty successful with my desk cleanup yesterday. It took longer than I expected but now I've finally got space to work again. There is still more to do in the rest of the room but that will have to wait for now. And since I didn't want to mess up all that hard work the card I made completely uses up stuff found in the mess.

First, I found this sweet scene from Lili of the Valley called, Away in a Manger, in a pile of stamped and ready to color images. It's on PTI cardstock so I know it's been waiting around for at least a couple years. The card base and gold paper both came from a pile in one corner of the desk and the brown paper strips were already punched... talk about quick! All I had to do was color then add a bit of twine and bling and the card was done. This one is going to be perfect for my grandparents as I know my grandma will really love it. :)

Well, it's Monday again and that means the Christmas rush is back on. Guess I should go get ready to tackle everything on the to-do list. Thanks for stopping by and I hope this new week is off to a great start for ya!

A colorful Christmas

Olo!

Brrr! It is so cold here! You know it's time to bundle up when only a couple of degrees separate your low and high temps for the day. ;)
Which of course gives me a fantastic excuse to just cuddle up and get cozy in my crafty room. It feels like I'm saying this every other post but my desk is a serious disaster zone so if I want to get anything done that will have to be tackled first. Wish me luck!

I honestly didn't think that I would get a card made for this week's Double Take Tuesday challenge over at TGF because I couldn't see working a rainbow color scheme into a Christmas card. BUT yesterday I remembered this striped print in an old Cosmo Cricket paper pad and I had to give it a go. This Miss Anya Scarves was already stamped up and waiting so I grabbed her and knew it was a great match when I saw all the stripes in her scarf. The resulting rainbow of colors that I used on her outfit may make it look like Anya got dressed in the dark, LOL, but I prefer to think of her as being an off-beat and confident individual. ;)
So she has proudly braved the cold to load up the car with Christmas gifts and the all important tree. Now it's time to return home for a warm cup of cocoa. And isn't that car cool? I actually found it in my gift wrapping stash as it is a gift tag that I got in a pack from Costco years ago. Needless to say I quickly appropriated it for my card making instead. It really helped to pull this whole rainbow of a Christmas card together if you ask me. :)

Alrighty folks, I hope you get to enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll chat at ya again manana
